Nous sollicitons votre collaboration et celle de vos proches pour aider à prévenir les infections. Le moyen le plus efficace demeure le lavage des mains. Il est important de le faire :
- en entrant et en sortant de l’hôpital
- avant d’entrer et de sortir de la chambre
- avant et après avoir manipulé des aliments
- après avoir satisfait des besoins hygiéniques personnels (ex. : aller aux toilettes ou se moucher)
Si par mégarde votre intervenant ou intervenante omet le lavage de vos mains, vous pouvez lui demander de le faire.
Dans certaines conditions, le port de gants, d’un masque ou d’une jaquette peut être nécessaire pour assurer votre sécurité et celle des autres. Pour toute question ou inquiétude, parlez-en à un membre de notre personnel.
La prévention des infections pour votre sécurité
Outre l’hygiène des mains, les mesures suivantes sont particulièrement importantes :
- Appliquer les précautions additionnelles lorsqu’elles s’imposent (port de la blouse, du masque ou des gants)
- Éviter d’être plusieurs visiteurs ou visiteuses à la fois dans une même chambre (maximum deux)
- Éviter autant que possible d’amener des enfants d’âge préscolaire (<12 ans) dans les chambres
- Éviter d’utiliser les toilettes dans les chambres
- Reporter votre visite, si vous sentez que vous êtes malade.
Ce qu’il faut savoir à propos de la gastroentérite
La gastroentérite est une infection du système digestif qui peut être causée par plusieurs agents infectieux, notamment des bactéries et des virus. Après une courte période d’incubation (de 24 à 48 heures), le tableau clinique des gastroentérites comprend habituellement les signes et symptômes suivants :
- nausées et vomissements
- diarrhées
- douleurs abdominales
- courbatures, maux de tête
- myalgies, céphalées et autres malaises
- fièvre peu élevée
La très grande majorité des personnes malades se sentent mieux après un jour ou deux, mais l’infection guérit en général spontanément après environ 2 à 3 jours.
Si vous vous présentez à l’Urgence avec les symptômes précités, vous devez le mentionner au personnel hospitalier afin que des mesures appropriées soient mises en place rapidement dans le but d’en limiter la propagation.
Ce qu’il faut savoir à propos de la grippe
La grippe est une infection très contagieuse des voies respiratoires. Elle est causée par le virus de l’influenza et se transmet très facilement, à partir des gouttelettes du nez et de la bouche projetées par une personne infectée lorsqu’elle tousse ou qu’elle éternue.
La grippe se transmet aussi par un contact avec une personne infectée, par exemple en l’embrassant, en lui serrant la main ou encore en touchant des objets contaminés par cette personne. Le tableau clinique de la grippe comprend habituellement les signes et symptômes suivants :
- fièvre accompagnée de toux
- douleurs et courbatures
- fatigue
- maux de tête

Après une infection par le virus de la grippe, vous pouvez être contagieux jusqu’à sept jours après le début des symptômes, et peut-être pour une période plus longue chez les enfants, les personnes âgées et les personnes dont le système immunitaire est affaibli.
La vaccination est la meilleure protection disponible contre l’influenza saisonnière
La vaccination contre l’influenza saisonnière est une priorité, autant pour les usagers et usagères que pour le personnel.
L’équipe de prévention des infections et le bureau de santé unissent leurs forces afin d’assurer des soins sécuritaires dans les différents secteurs de l’établissement. Se faire vacciner contre la grippe permet non seulement de se protéger, mais également de protéger votre famille et votre entourage. Chaque année, plusieurs décès sont causés par le virus de l’influenza. De ce fait, il n’est jamais trop tard pour se faire vacciner.
