Aspects psychologiques (peur de la récidive), psychophysiologiques (douleur, difficultés sommeil) et comportementaux (tabagisme, exercices physiques) associés aux maladies chroniques, particulièrement au cancer. Développement et adaptation d'outils d'évaluation et d'interventions cognitives-comportementales. Amélioration des soins et des services dans un contexte d'interdisciplinarité.
Description des travaux
L'ensemble des mes travaux de recherche vise à développer une meilleure compréhension de l'adaptation à la maladie, particulièrement dans le contexte de maladies chroniques comme le cancer. Plus spécifiquement, je m'intéresse à une préoccupation fréquemment rapportée par les patients: la peur de la récidive du cancer. Au cours des dernières années, nous avons proposé une conceptualisation multidimensionnelle de ce phénomène et validé un nouvel instrument de mesure. Nous explorons présentement ses mécanismes et ses déterminants dans le but de proposer de meilleures cibles d'intervention. Par ailleurs, je m'intéresse particulièrement aux déterminants et aux conséquences psychosociales des maladies pulmonaires, comme le cancer du poumon. À cet effet, nous explorons actuellement la nature de la détresse psychologique et des besoins biopsychosociales de ces patients. Nous nous intéressons aussi à l'adoption de saines habitudes de vie comme l'exercice physique et la cessation tabagique auprès de cette clientèle. Enfin, je m'intéresse de près à l'amélioration des soins et services offerts aux patients. Pour ce faire, nous évaluons la mise en place de nouvelles stratégies pour renforcer le travail interdisciplinaire et la continuité des soins.
